街中に身近にありながら、でも目にすることが、あまりなかったり、つい見過ごしていたり、気にも止めなかったり・・。
そもそも、ふだんは地中深くに埋まっていて、姿かたちすら、めったにお目にかかることがないモノだったり。
そのような数多くのモノゴトが、私たちのまわりには、たくさんあったりします。
でも、ちょっと見方を変えて「ふだんは見えないものを見えるように、しかも信じられないくらいの大きなイラストで描き出せば・・・きっと驚くような世界が生まれるはず！」
そんな思いから製品開発は2018年にスタートしました。
Though they are ever-present in our towns and cities, many things remain unseen, overlooked or simply ignored.
Indeed, some are buried deep underground and rarely glimpsed in their entirety.
Such things abound all around us.
But what if we shifted our perspective just a little and made the invisible visible by depicting it in unbelievably large illustrations?
An astonishing world would surely emerge!’
It was this very thought that sparked the product development process in 2018.
東京オリンピックに合わせようと始まったこのプロジェクトは、しかし完成まで山あり谷あり壁あり・・本当に大変でした。
しかも突然襲った世界的なパンデミックの影響で、取材や撮影ロケもままならない日々。製品完成の見通しも立たたず、何度も頓挫しそうになりました。それでもいまこうしてリリースが出来たのは、本当に多くの方のご協力があったからこそ。
ぜひたくさんの子どもたちに、いえ大人の方にも、この【トウキョウカット・マップ＆ブック】をお届けできることを願っています。
This project, which was launched to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics, experienced many challenges before it was completed.
Furthermore, the sudden onset of a global pandemic meant that there were days when interviews and location shoots were impossible.
With no clear end in sight, the project nearly stalled on numerous occasions.
Nevertheless, we are now able to release it thanks to the tremendous support of so many people.
We sincerely hope that this Tokyo Cut Map & Book will reach many children and adults.
